As I frequently work at the arbitration enforcement noticeboard, I am "aware" of all the various areas covered by discretionary sanctions, and this notice may be considered evidence of awareness if enforcement is requested. It is not necessary to leave me notices advising me of such areas. |

Please read before posting
[edit]- Post all new sections under a new header at the bottom of this page, not at random. If you make it clear you ignored these instructions by placing it elsewhere, I am likely to ignore your request in turn.
- If you leave me a message here, I will respond to it here, as fragmented discussions are confusing. I may or may not leave you a notice that I've responded on your talk page. If you specifically request that I do (or do not) give you such a notice when I respond, I'll honor that request. If I contact you on your talk page, I will watchlist it so that I can respond there. If you'd like to leave me a notice when you respond (a ping will also suffice), it would be appreciated, and you'll probably receive a faster followup.
- No lulztxtspk or emojis on my talk page, please. "You" is spelled "you", "though" is spelled "though", "because" is spelled "because", "people" is spelled "people", and so on. There is no character limit on Wikipedia comments, so there is no need whatsoever for ad-hoc abbreviating. If you don't even take yourself seriously, don't expect me to take you seriously either.
- If you are an admin here to ask me about someone I blocked for vandalism or spamming/advertising, they've agreed to stop it, and you believe they intend to edit productively, go ahead and unblock them. If you still want my opinion please feel free to ask, but there's no obligation. For more complex cases I would appreciate a heads-up, but please go ahead with your best judgment if I don't seem to be online. I would appreciate it if you'd let me know after you do.
- If you are here to discuss edits made to an article, please use the article talk page, not this talk page, to discuss them. If I made the edit and the question is specifically directed at me, you are welcome to ping me.
- If you email me a question or request, and do not indicate why the matter is sensitive and must be handled privately (and such is not immediately obvious), I may ignore it or respond on your talk page rather than by return email. Talk pages are open to other editors to read, and so are the preferred method of communication for matters involving Wikipedia. If the matter you are speaking to me about is Wikipedia-related and would not violate anyone's privacy by being posted publicly, please use my talk page instead of email. This does not, of course, apply to editors who are blocked from editing, though I still may respond on your talk page rather than by return email.

Gabriele Leyva (Speedy Deletion)
[edit]Hello. I wanted to ask you why did you speedy delete my article about Gabriele Leyva? It was a draft and didn't finished it yet. Went to sleep and woke up to it being deleted.
It is not written with any promoting advise or something like that at all, just wanted to write an article about him because he is very famous in the fortnite and cryptocurrency space but still haven't got a wikipedia page.
I will kindly wait for your response, thanks and have a good day! Cryptofenrir (talk) 15:15, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
- Cryptofenrir, as you have been involved in writing promotional material, please first clarify whether you are being paid or otherwise compensated to edit Wikipedia, including but not limited to being asked or expected to edit as a duty of employment or internship. If so, you will need to make the required disclosures before we proceed. Seraphimblade Talk to me 22:46, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
- I'm not getting paid for doing this, I wish I was....
- I didn't do any promotion of anything,, I just started writing the draft and only wrote about him and his story, I honestly don't get where the promotion is there, I didn't promote anything but talk about his journey on being a Fortnite professional player and a crypto trader.
- I will kindly await for your response, and if necessary I will make the relevant changes so that everything is in order with respect to Wikipedia's policies.
- Have a good day!! Cryptofenrir (talk) 11:17, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- I see. Then, you'll need to keep in mind that Wikipedia articles must be written neutrally based upon facts from reliable and independent sources. If there is not a substantial quantity of reliable and independent source material available about a subject, it is not notable and there should not be an article about that subject at all. If there is, the article must stick to only facts which those sources verify, and must never be based upon personal knowledge or the like. They also must not promote the subject in any way, including via puffery or "talking up". As some examples here, but by no means an exhaustive list:
Of Italian and Cuban descent, Gabriele has earned a reputation for his sharp trading skills and strategic investments.
(puffery, also we use a formal tone, so "Levya", not "Gabriele"),Formerly a professional Fortnite player and one of the best in the world
("one of the best in the world" as confirmed by what reliable and independent source?),where his investments have allowed him to achieve substantial wealth at a very young age
(don't editorialize that the age is "very young", and "substantial" is not specific),Standing at 6'6" (195 cm), Gabriele's commanding presence reflects his larger-than-life ambitions.
(pure puffy junk), and the rest goes on and on like that. Promotional material like that is not permitted on Wikipedia. Seraphimblade Talk to me 11:23, 2 December 2024 (UTC)- Okay, I understand thank you for your advice! This is my first Wikipedia page and I want to learn how to do it properly, really appreciate it. May I get back the draft I was writing so that I can change all that mistakes I made? Cryptofenrir (talk) 14:07, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- No, I do not restore advertisements. My advice is generally that inexperienced editors should gain experience editing existing articles for a while before they even think about trying to create a new one. Seraphimblade Talk to me 19:45, 2 December 2024 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – December 2024
[edit]News and updates for administrators from the past month (November 2024).
Interface administrator changes
- Following an RFC, the policy on restoration of adminship has been updated. All former administrators may now only regain the tools following a request at the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard within 5 years of their most recent admin action. Previously this applied only to administrators deysopped for inactivity.
- Following a request for comment, a new speedy deletion criterion, T5, has been enacted. This applies to template subpages that are no longer used.
- Technical volunteers can now register for the 2025 Wikimedia Hackathon, which will take place in Istanbul, Turkey. Application for travel and accommodation scholarships is open from November 12 to December 10, 2024.
- The arbitration case Yasuke (formerly titled Backlash to diversity and inclusion) has been closed.
- An arbitration case titled Palestine-Israel articles 5 has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case will close on 14 December.
ARE
[edit]@Seraphimblade I respect your decision, appreciate your involvement in the WP:ARE's report against my account, and apologize for this ping. I've seen your closing comment.[1] I kindly request you consider reducing the six-month period of topic ban, if possible, since most of the mistakes I made were first-time errors. If not possible, you can please ban me without the condition of an unban appeal after the time period of my fixed ban.? I asked for it because I've read the comments of the admin:Valereee that the appeal is very hard[2] even though I'm not fully aware of the policies of WP:ARE. I never participated before in any discussions at ARE. ®asteem Talk 19:38, 5 December 2024 (UTC)
- To maintain fairness and make sure everyone is seeing the same thing, I do not discuss open AE requests outside of AE. Please discuss the request there, not on my talk page. Seraphimblade Talk to me 20:20, 5 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Seraphimblade
- 1. I can participate in India-Pakistan-related AFD and page move discussions.?
- 2. After 6 months, my ban will lift automatically, or do I have to appeal for the unban?
- 3. Is there any condition I should appeal for unban only after 5, 7 months, or one year?.
- 4. With this topic ban, I am not allowed to edit politics, ethnicity, or history-related articles in the area of Pakistan-India. But I can edit language, movies/series, geography, or some BLP-related pages of India-Pakistan.?
- 5. I can create music/movies, series, languages, or geography-related pages in the area of India-Pakistan.?
- 6. As my main topic area was RC patrol, can I continue my RC patrol? If yes, is there any condition I should follow in patrolling the RC?.
- 7. "If the sanction includes a ban, please read the banning policy to ensure you understand what this means"? Am I also banned in this ARE sanction or not?
- 8.Alternatively, can you please explain which specific areas of Pakistan-India related articles I am restricted from editing?
- 9. Where can I ask more questions to clear my doubt if I want to clear my further doubts. I can ask on Wikipedia talk:ARE? ®asteem Talk 11:46, 6 December 2024 (UTC)
- 10. You can also explain the requirements to make 500 edits outside of Pakistan-India related articles,? and whether my edits to RC patrol, sandbox, Drafts, redirects, and Talk pages will be included in this 500-edit total? ®asteem Talk 12:10, 6 December 2024 (UTC)
- Rasteem, you have some overlapping questions there. I strongly suggest you actually read WP:TBAN, as it seems you have some misconceptions, but for clarity, you may not edit or discuss anything related to India or Pakistan anywhere on Wikipedia while you are topic banned. That includes all the things you mentioned; you may not participate in any of those if they are India or Pakistan related, and topic bans are "broadly construed", so if you're unsure whether something falls within the scope of the ban, presume it does. After six months have passed and you have made 500 edits after being topic banned, your sanction will automatically be lifted; you need not appeal it. Though if you're uncertain whether you have met the terms of that, you may ask me or another administrator. You must both wait six months and make the 500 edits before the ban is lifted. As to asking for clarification, it is not a violation of your ban to ask for clarification on it, as you are doing now, so as above, you may ask me or another admin if you need such clarification, though of course it would make sense to ask someone who participates at AE and is familiar with such sanctions. You can still continue to do RC patrol, but just be careful not to accidentally edit something related to India or Pakistan while doing so, though reverting blatant and obvious vandalism is not a ban violation. As to the 500 edits, any edits count, though if you engage in any kind of obvious gaming (e.g., just making 500 trivial edits to your sandbox), that could be considered bad faith and result in the ban being lengthened or made indefinite. But RC patrol, etc., certainly counts toward that. Seraphimblade Talk to me 12:17, 6 December 2024 (UTC)
- Your clarifications have been incredibly helpful; thank you for the assistance.
- 1. After 3 or 4 months, can I appeal for the unban.? After fulfilling the condition of 500 edits and not making any edits in the areas of India-Pakistan and constructively editing in other areas of Wikipedia.
- 2. Or is there also a condition I should not appeal for the unban before 6 months.? ®asteem Talk 11:03, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
- There was no condition set regarding when you can appeal, so you can do so at any time. Seraphimblade Talk to me 12:40, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Seraphimblade I hope you're having a wonderful day.. I want to ask a question: one of my edit on Latifi (disambiguation) was okay? Or not,[3] because I added this newspaper on the disambiguation page when I searched for Latifi and found that the name of the newspaper exists with the same name, so I added it, but I didn't edit anything directly related to Pakistan. ®asteem Talk 08:25, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
- Also on RC I can revert these kinds of edits or not? [4][5] ®asteem Talk 08:35, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
- You cannot edit anything related to India or Pakistan. That says in the very edit that it's a "Pakistani newspaper", so you may not make edits like that. In the two edits you listed, the first is blatant vandalism (someone just randomly adding "sexing" to an article), so you could revert that. In the second, it was not blatant vandalism, it was clearly a content-related dispute, so you would not be able to edit that at all. Basically, like I said above, if you need to ask or wonder whether it's covered by the ban, presume it is and stay away from it. Seraphimblade Talk to me 09:52, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you! Next I'll presume or stay away from it. As a newspaper was related to Pakistan, next I'll not link such articles even on a random disambiguation page. ®asteem Talk 09:58, 10 December 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, this is Mk8mlyb. Have you seen my recent comments on the AE page? I'm willing to play ball. I see that what I did was against the rules and I should have heeded the CTOP notice. Mk8mlyb (talk) 00:38, 8 December 2024 (UTC)

Palestine-Israel articles 5 updates
[edit]You are receiving this message because you are on the update list for Palestine-Israel articles 5. The drafters note that the scope of the case was somewhat unclear, and clarify that the scope is The interaction of named parties in the WP:PIA topic area and examination of the WP:AE process that led to two referrals to WP:ARCA
. Because this was unclear, two changes are being made:
First, the Committee will accept submissions for new parties for the next three days, until 23:59, 10 December 2024 (UTC). Anyone who wishes to suggest a party to the case may do so by creating a new section on the evidence talk page, providing a reason with WP:DIFFS as to why the user should be added, and notifying the user. After the three-day period ends, no further submission of parties will be considered except in exceptional circumstances. Because the Committee only hears disputes that have failed to be resolved by the usual means, proposed parties should have been recently taken to AE/AN/ANI, and either not sanctioned, or incompletely sanctioned. If a proposed party has not been taken to AE/AN/ANI, evidence is needed as to why such an attempt would have been ineffective.
Second, the evidence phase has been extended by a week, and will now close at 23:59, 21 December 2024 (UTC). For the Arbitration Committee, HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 03:20, 8 December 2024 (UTC)

Arbitration enforcement
[edit]OK, so the judgment is in. You have any suggestions on what I can do? I know the notice says I can appeal, but I'm not sure trying to appeal the sanction immediately after it was handed down is a good idea. Mk8mlyb (talk) 02:15, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
- Mk8mlyb, there are many articles on Wikipedia which aren't about the Palestine-Israel conflict. Anything from articles about chemistry to history to art. And they all have ways they could be improved. So, find some of those to work on, find some good sources to work from, and start in. My other advice, for you specifically, would be to drop the tone of "Well of course this is what I'm doing, because my way is right and yours is wrong" that you seemed to be taking previously. An approach like that will rarely lead to constructive dialogue; it will just put people's back up. If you can work constructively in other areas for some months, I think you'd find people quite willing to consider lifting the ban after that. Seraphimblade Talk to me 06:13, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
- Understood. For the record, the reason I took the stance I did was because I had heard news of pro-Palestine and pro-Hamas protests celebrating the October 7 attack, many of which turned violent and into attempts to target Jews. I was deeply upset by this, and when I looked at Wikipedia's coverage of the conflict, I felt that it was promoting the same narratives that were used to justify the terrorist attack. I still stand by my belief that Wikipedia's rules and policies, such as WP:NPOV, are not being properly followed or are being twisted to promote anti-Israel bias and anti-semitic tropes, though I don't think the people involved are antisemitic. You have the right to disagree, but that's just how I feel. I have a few questions, though: can I edit the Israel or the Palestine articles in any way? Or are those off-limits too? Mk8mlyb (talk) 06:48, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
- Please remember that while it is not a violation of your ban to request clarification on it, you cannot discuss the subject itself anywhere on Wikipedia, including here. You certainly cannot edit the articles about Israel or Palestine. Seraphimblade Talk to me 07:00, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
- Oh, OK. By the way, how do you like my recent editing on this page? Mk8mlyb (talk) 05:17, 11 December 2024 (UTC)
- I'm not the biggest baseball fan myself (I know, I get some trouble for it already), but I know statistics are quite important to many people who follow it, so I'm sure someone will appreciate having the details there! Seraphimblade Talk to me 10:57, 11 December 2024 (UTC)
