Name
[edit]Presumably 'Braun' was her husband's surname? With no mention of this, it looks amateurish as it goes from Moseley in the intro to Moseley Braun throughout. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MartinUK (talk • contribs) 10:48, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
Middle Name 'Elizabeth'
[edit]When I saw Carol Elizabeth Moseley Braun redirected here I ran a search on the name, putting it in quotes. I am putting in her middle name and giving several sites where her full name is used. [1] [2] [3] [4]
Image
[edit]There's a black and white image, and a colour one. The black and white one is known US govt == public domain. The colour one was uploaded by ChrisDJackson, who has previously uploaded images where Wikipedia-specific permission was given (rather than GFDL, etc). Thus reverted to the known free image. If anyone has info on the colour image indicating that it too is free, please add it to the image description page. Thanks. Martin 22:28, 1 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Hyphenated Name?
[edit]Shouldn't the name be hyphenated (Moseley-Braun)? If so, does it matter? What is the wiki attitude on this kind of thing? Myron 20:15:27, 2005-08-10 (UTC)
- No, because if you look at her website, she doesn't use one. (Note: I have updated this comment.)
- However, she has used one in the past. (As I recall it, having lived in Illinois at the time:) Originally she was known as "Carol Moseley Braun" (no hyphen), and generally addressed as Braun, but some time before taking office she decided she preferred to be addressed as "Moseley Braun" instead. When she learned that Senate rules would mean she would be addressed as Senator/Ms. Braun; she added the hyphen so she would be called "Senator Moseley-Braun" instead. However, it appears now her last name is "Moseley Braun" (two words, no hyphen). ProhibitOnions 14:32, 29 September 2005 (UTC)
She divorced the guy but still wants his name? Should be either Carol Moseley or Carol Braun. This two name/hyphenated crap needs to go. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.143.176.138 (talk) 14:13, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
Claims of vindication
[edit]The article contains many claims that the many allegations of misconduct against her stemming primarily from misuse of funds from her Senate campaign resulted in exoneration. There are no cites for this. In fact, the one cite on the matter specifically indicates that she was NOT fully exonerated (the audit report, stating 'exceptions' which are not listed). This topic should be addressed in a better way.
NPOV violation?
[edit]"Despite the fact that former Ambassadors are specifically enjoined from using their past positions for personal gain, Moseley Braun has launched a line of organic food products called Ambassador Organics.[3]" smacks of NPOV violation. What do you think? --lightspeedchick 03:09, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
History 1999-now
[edit]There doesn't seem to be a good paragraph in the main article about what she was doing since leaving the senate, eg ambassor etc, could someone write a paragraph or two? - SimonLyall (talk) 04:38, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

endorsements box thing
[edit]after fixing a couple of minor things in the presidential campaign section, i was wondering how necessary the drop down box thing for her campaign endorsements was. unfortunately the fact that i have no idea regarding the name of the box thing in question prevented me from searching for a policy to tell me when to use it, but common sense tells me that it should have something to do with the amount of information contained within the box. so for a candidate who received more endorsements than it would make sense to include on the page, such a box would probably be appropriate, but ms. mosely braun unfortunately received only three endorsements, making the box's use in this article pretty pointless. has anyone got any thoughts on this, or should i go ahead and change the endorsements to a simple list? First Senate
[edit]if you didn't know Carol Moseley Braun was First African-American Female to be elected as Senate! ( i not joking ) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.208.60.203 (talk) 00:00, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
Last name
[edit]I believe that Carol Moseley Braun's last name is Moseley Braun, not Braun. See for example her biographical information on the Washington Post web site, here. This was previously discussed in the #Hyphenated Name? talk page section above. This might not affect the text of the article, but the Persondata and Defaultsort templates should be adjusted so that she's listed alphabetically under "M" instead of "B", and so should the listas parameter in the WikiProject Biography banner on this talk page. — Mudwater (Talk) 12:22, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- I've gone ahead and made these changes. — Mudwater (Talk) 21:15, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
Racial Qualification - Necessary?
[edit]In the personal information section, it seems unnecessary and a bit inappropriate to refer her ex-husband as "a white man". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.40.23.68 (talk) 15:39, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
Strung out on crack comment
[edit]Would that remark made during the mayoral debate be relevant to the article? I mean the clip is still being played in comedic ways on the radio and television. 207.177.213.110 (talk) 17:13, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
"Feminist" in lead
[edit]I don't doubt that Moselely Braun is a feminist (although no source is cited), but feminism is not such a prominent part of her political ideology or identity that it merits being one of only a few descriptors in the lead. Evidence of this is that there is not any reference to feminism in the rest of the article. If some credible source refers to her as a feminist, then by all means include that fact in article somewhere, but to have it in lead gives this undue emphasis. --Federalist51 (talk) 02:51, 7 March 2013 (UTC)

Apple Guard?
[edit]The page currently states "Her father, Joseph J. Moseley, was a Chicago police officer and apple guard...." What the heck is an apple guard? I suspect it's a typo or vandalism. Anyone know what it should be? CsikosLo (talk) 17:10, 9 November 2016 (UTC)
