Designations for Political Status
[edit]There probably should be some work done on the current status of all the parties, ideally with a link to the last election and the next election that's coming up for that member. naylorm (talk) 01:02, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
What exactly is the difference between the "in opposition" and "minority party" designation? If there isn't an actual difference in terms of nomenclature in that country, there probably shouldn't be a change. naylorm (talk) 01:02, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
Brazilian Liberal Party
[edit]Sirs, I'd like to let you know about the brazilian Liberal Party (PL) www.pl.org.br , that preconizes the Liberalismo Social (in a free translation Social Liberalism). THe founder of brazilian PL, Mr. Alvaro Valle, was a Professor, a former diplomat (he was Consul in Göteborg, Minister at the brazilian embassy in PAris for 3 years), and was elected Representative by the Rio de Janeiro State 6 times to our COngress (Camara dos Deputados), preconized a liberal doctrine, in which the social concerns is primordial. The PL was born in 1985 and has 46 Representatives and 3 Senators at the brazilian Congress (House of Representatives, 513 members; and Senate, 66 members). Its former PResident passed over 2000 and the new President is the REpresentative Valdemar Costa Neto, Sao Paulo state Representative. I'd like to ask you to include in your web site the tips about our Brazilian PL. Thank you. Jacinto Lamas Member of National COmitee as National Treasurer and International Secretary on Duty
i'd like to, but apparently the liberal party is not a member of the liberal international. at least its not listed as a member party on the website. if you would like to start an article about the party you are more than welcome.

Note
[edit]It would be interesting to note on this article whether any of the member parties are in power in their respective countries. The only one that I know is is the Senegalese member. 86.10.69.97 05:22, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- Well, after a quick glance, at least Estonia and Venstre in Denmark, and Folkpartiet as a junior coalition partner in Sweden. --Barend 09:39, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- And, of course, both the Finnish members.--Barend 20:48, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
Taiwan and ROC
[edit]I am not dispute whether ROC is Taiwan, but it is really ironic to replace Taiwan by ROC in the context of promoting liberalism. It could be even further ironic to put DDP under ROC. For those who wish to check the membership, please check [[1]]. I think we should respect their naming, and not to alter those name for the purpose of political correctness (but it is okay to replace a name if there is ambiguity on the old name, still, 'Taiwan' is not ambiguous terms). 58.177.158.163 18:25, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
Liberal Party (1989) UK
[edit]The 'continuing' Liberal Party is not a Liberal International member. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.111.176.93 (talk) 11:49, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Page Improvements
[edit]- What would people think about changing the listings to something more like the listings for the IDU and SI?
- What a good idea. I've thrown something up - let me know if y'all like it. naylorm (talk) 20:05, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
Quebec Liberal Party
[edit]- Regarding the Quebec Liberal Party, which was added by an anonymous user about a month or two ago, is there any evidence that it is a member? It's not mentioned on the website of either the Liberal International or the PLQ. The Quebec party has no institutional links to the federal party and so the membership of one does not imply the membership of the other. Homagetocatalonia (talk) 14:10, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
- on the other hand, the Ontario Liberal Party shares offices and a Youth Organization (Ontario Young Liberals) with the Liberal Party of Canada, though they haven't been fully affiliated for some time--24.87.81.186 (talk) 06:11, 25 June 2013 (UTC)
Deletion of Table
[edit]The following was the result of a discussion concerning the verifiability of organizations with lists or tables of members:
Resolved: Lists or tables of members belonging to a political international or other organization that are unsourced or sourced by self-published sources must be deleted. When an organization claims it has members it is self-serving, and therefore must be deleted under WP:V. Please note that this applies to all organizations with members, including all other political internationals.
Thus, per WP:V, the table of members on this page must be deleted, and remain deleted, until the table can be properly sourced by independent sources.
